Horseback Riding to La Fortuna Waterfall trough Costa Rican countryside

Ride your way across one of the most popular countrysides of Costa Rica, in this tour, you will participate in a horseback riding adventure for about five and a half kilometers for an hour and a half to the rest site of the horses. On the road, you will find different types of rustic and agricultural landscapes along with cattle farms. Also, on this tour, you will have the chance to see colorful species of birds such as oropendolas and toucans. As the time of the arrival to the rest site comes, there is going to be a short walk of five hundred meters inside the first to get to the 70 meters of height La Fortuna Waterfall, named after the iconic town near the Arenal Volcano, to enjoy a fresh bath in the natural pool the waterfall creates for about an hour before heading back to the horseback ride and finish with the tour.

What to expect

The length of the tour is approximately 4 hours; from La Fortuna, we have to go 5 ½ kilometers to the southeast. We spend 1 ½ hour to get to the rest site for the horses.

A beautiful example of the Costa Rican country site will be found along the way, cattle farms and agriculture, also the chance to see some birds as oropendolas and toucans. After that, you will walk five hundred meters into the forest to get to the waterfall, which is 70 meters high. At the base of the waterfall, there is a “natural pool” where we can swim in the fresh water of La Fortuna river for about one hour.
