The new ‘Farmers’ Market tour’ is held at the Monteverde Square Mall, located in downtown Santa Elena. The farmer’s market began in 2006, in order to provide producers, artisans and farmers, a place to sell high-quality products at a very affordable price. During this activity, you will experience shopping at a farmers market, as well as enjoying the local culture and cuisine.
What to expect
This property is located in the mountains of Monteverde with a panoramic view of the Gulf of Nicoya and measures ten hectares in area, five of which are pastures and five are for forest conservation. In this tour, the visitor will have a lifestyle and cultural experience with the opportunity to partake in the process of dairy products and the development of organic agriculture. The farm’s original owner has lived all of his life in Monteverde and has always been dedicated to working with cows with the firm conviction that diary production, agriculture, and the mountain form complement each other. This integration of activities allows for the production of other elements that naturally interact with the environment. Our visitors get to learn the authentic process to elaborate artisan fresh cheese. The farm visit concludes with a meal with cheese, tortillas, and a delicious coffee or agua dulce.
