Explore the Arenal Volcano and enjoy a relaxation time at the Hot Springs

The Arenal Volcano, called “The Mountain of Fire” is one of the most iconic volcanoes Costa Rica has since it came back to life in 1968 after nearly 400 years of inactivity, letting his surroundings become ashes and having constant volcanic activity throughout the years until July 2010, where explosions and lava flows have decreased significantly. Because of this reason, the tour allows you to hike one of the short trails close to the volcano area to enjoy the volcano´s neighboring forest and the nearby beauty of the place. After that, you will get the perfect relaxation after a sports day in pools made of thermal waters originated from the hot springs that come from the volcano. To finish this amazing day, a delicious buffet dinner will close the night before return to the hotels.

What to expect

The Arenal Volcano started its activity in July 1968 until the end of 2002, it constantly ejected gases, water, fumaroles and explosions with pyroclastic material emissions, and sometimes the eruptions were accompanied with powerful thunders.

The ash was carried by the wind over long distances especially to the northwest area of the volcano. The biggest and heaviest material fell close to the crater. The lava flows came out of the crater with a temperature up to 1 000 Centigrade. As the lava came down it slowly cooled off. A short hike in one of the trails close to the volcano area will give us the chance to enjoy some forest and the activity around it.
